How to batch-film a week of TikToks in one session

Setting up light, sound and a background takes longer than filming a 30-second clip. Batch filming does that setup once and records a week of videos while everything is in place.

Plan before you set up

Write the hook and payoff line for each video on one page. Group videos that use the same location or props so you only move things once.

Decide which ones need B-roll and list the shots underneath each idea. A shot list stops you finishing the session and realising one video has nothing to cut to.

Make the videos look different

Change one visible thing between videos: a different top, the camera on the other side of the room, standing instead of sitting, a different object on the shelf behind you. Viewers who watch several in a row should not feel they are seeing the same clip.

Film in the order of least to most mess. Cooking or crafts go last.

Keep the session moving

Do all talking-head lines first, then all B-roll, then any screen recordings. Switching between types is where time disappears.

Check the first take of each video for focus, framing and sound before moving on. Re-filming the next day is far slower than a ten-second check.

Store and schedule

Name the files by video, not by clip number, as soon as you finish, and save drafts with the caption written. Schedule or post one a day, and leave a slot for something timely that comes up during the week.

Frequently asked questions

What should I plan before a batch-filming session?

Write the hook and payoff line for each video on one page, group videos that share a location or props, and list the B-roll shots each one needs.

How do I stop batch-filmed videos from looking identical?

Change one visible thing between videos, such as your top, the camera position, standing instead of sitting, or an object on the shelf behind you.

In what order should I film during a batch session?

Record all talking-head lines first, then all B-roll, then screen recordings, because switching between types wastes time. Leave messy content like cooking for last.
