How to download a TikTok video
The three steps are the same everywhere: copy the link, paste it, pick a format. What differs is where the file lands afterwards, which is the part most guides skip. Here is what to expect on each device.
The short version
Open the video in TikTok and tap Share, then Copy link. Come back here, paste it into the box on the home page, and tap Download. Choose the format you want — the buttons show the resolution and the file size, so you can pick before you commit to the data.
On iPhone and iPad
Safari saves downloads to the Files app rather than straight to your camera roll. After tapping a download button you will see a small arrow near the address bar; tap it to see the finished file.
To move a video into Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video. Photos will not show it until you do this — the file is on the device either way, just not in the gallery yet.
If nothing seems to happen when you tap Paste, that is iOS asking for clipboard permission. Allow it once, or type the link in by hand.
On Android
Chrome saves to the Downloads folder and shows a notification when the file is finished. Most gallery apps pick up new videos there automatically, though some take a few minutes or need a refresh.
If your browser asks whether to keep the file, that prompt appears for any download from any site and is not specific to this one.
On a computer
Copy the address from your browser bar while the video is open on tiktok.com — you do not need the Share menu. Paste it here and the file goes to your usual downloads folder.
Desktop is the easier place to save a lot of videos in one sitting, because the file manager makes it obvious what has already been saved.
If a video will not download
Almost every failure comes down to the post itself rather than the tool. A private account, a deleted video, an age restriction or a regional block will each stop any downloader, because the file is not readable in the first place.
The message you see names which of these it is. If it says the link is not recognised, check that you copied a video link rather than a profile link, or that the app did not copy a search result instead.
