Privacy policy

This page describes what actually happens when you use the site. It is written against the code rather than from a template, and where our hosting provider sees something we do not control, it says so.

There are no accounts

You cannot sign up, and there is nothing to log into. We hold no name, email address or password for you, because we never collect one.

The links you paste

A link is used to fetch the video and is then discarded. We do not build a history of what you have downloaded, and we cannot show you one.

What we do keep is the result: for six hours after a video is first requested, its public metadata — title, author, thumbnail, available formats — is cached so a second request for the same video is fast. That cache is keyed by a hash of the video ID and contains nothing about who asked for it.

Short share links are remembered for longer, up to seven days, because they are permanent redirects and re-following them every time is wasted work. Again, only the link and where it points, never who followed it.

Your IP address

Your IP address is used for one thing: keeping any single source from overwhelming the service, currently capped at 30 requests a minute.

It is not stored as an IP. It is hashed with SHA-256 and truncated before it becomes a lookup key, and that key expires on its own within a couple of minutes. There is no way to work backwards from what we hold to the address it came from.

What our host sees

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the requests reaching it — including your IP address — in order to serve them, and it retains its own operational logs under its own policies. That is outside our control, and it would be true of any hosting provider.

We have request observability enabled on our Worker, which means Cloudflare records timing and error information about requests. Our own error logging is deliberately narrow: it records what kind of failure happened and which parsing layer reported it, and never the link you submitted or your IP address.

Storage in your browser

One preference is saved locally: whether you chose light or dark mode. It stays in your browser, is never sent to us, and clearing your site data removes it.

Closing an ad unit saves a second, similar preference for that browser tab only, so it does not reappear after you dismiss it once; reloading the page or opening a new tab resets it.

Google Analytics also sets cookies of its own, described in the next section, and the advertising described below may set its own cookies or identifiers to serve and measure ads. We do not read or receive anything from either.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people reach. It tells us how many visitors a page had and roughly where in the world they were; it does not tell us who anyone is, and we never send it the link you paste or anything about the file you download.

It works by loading a script from Google and storing cookies in your browser that identify the browser, not the person, so a visit that spans several pages counts as one. Google receives your IP address as part of that, and Google Analytics 4 does not store it — addresses are used to derive an approximate location and then discarded. Google processes what it receives under its own policies, which are outside our control.

It loads after the page is usable and nothing on the site depends on it. A browser that blocks trackers, or an extension that blocks this one, breaks nothing here — every page and every download works exactly the same.

Files you download

Video and audio files are streamed through our server to your device and are not retained afterwards. We do not keep copies of the media you download.

Third parties and advertising

When our primary methods of reading a public post fail, a request may be passed to a third-party resolver as a last resort. In that case the video link is shared with that service; your IP address and browser headers are not.

This site shows ads served by Adsterra, in a handful of clearly-marked, fixed-size spots — never a popup, an interstitial, or anything that delays or blocks a download. Loading one works like loading any embedded ad: your browser requests it directly from Adsterra, which sees your IP address and the page you are on, the same as it would on any site that uses it. Adsterra runs its own ad delivery and measurement under its own policies, outside our control. We do not send it the link you paste or anything about the file you download, and it sends us nothing back about you.

Children

This service is not directed at children, and since we collect no personal information from anyone, we hold none belonging to a child.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in substance, the date at the top of this page changes with it.

Questions about anything here can be sent to the address on the contact page.
